Kings River Trust

The more minds and ideas we have supporting the agricultural and natural resources in our watershed the better. We created our Advisory Council to help bring more expertise and professionalism to our work.

We are actively working to grow the membership of this newly created council. Read our charter below and see if membership is a fit for you. Please reach out to us with your interest.

Advisory Council Charter

The purpose of the Advisory Council is:

  1. To supplement the board’s skills, abilities, knowledge, and experience to help guide the organization towards the stated mission.
  2. To provide counsel in key areas of expertise not represented within the organizations staff or volunteers.
  3. To represent the organization to an audience KRLT seeks a stronger connection to.
  4. To attract new board members, committee members, volunteers, and financial supporters to the organization.
  5. To promote KRLT to the community.

Members of the Advisory Council will be one or more of the following:

  1. Influential members of the community who can give valuable advice by virtue of their knowledge, experience, skills, and connections.
  2. Subject matter experts who can provide valuable information in key areas of expertise.
  3. People with notoriety who can attract attention to the organization’s mission.
  4. People who have philanthropic experience and the ability to increase donors and donations amounts, cultivate event attendance and corporate sponsorships, and grow the planned giving program using personal and business networks.
  5. People with the ability to be an annual major donor.

Core Responsibilities of Advisory Council members are:

  1. To represent the organization to an audience KRLT seek
  2. Foster and enhance the philanthropic culture within KRLT;
  3. Build relationships for KRLT through networking, mentoring and social opportunities;
  4. Provide an independent sounding board for the board of directors;
  5. To promote KRLT to the community
