Thank you letter to farmers, ranchers and laborers

In a world where it’s easy to take things for granted, it’s important to pause and recognize the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and resilience farmers, ranchers, and laborers put into ensuring our tables are filled with nourishing food. You are the backbone of our communities, tirelessly cultivating the land, raising livestock, and providing the essential sustenance that supports us all.

Your early mornings, long days, and deep commitment to your craft go largely unseen, but your impact is felt by everyone. The food on our plates is a testament to your perseverance through challenges — be it unpredictable weather, economic hardships, or the ever-changing demands of the industry. Yet, despite it all, you carry on with strength and determination, knowing that what you do is essential not just for today but for the future.

For that, we want to say thank you. Thank you for your passion for the land, your care for the animals, and your dedication to sustainable practices that ensure future generations will also be able to thrive. Thank you for the food we eat, the fiber that clothes us, and the work ethic you model for all of us.

Thank you for teaching us that the day is not done until all the work is complete. Because of you, our work ethic is second to none. That work ethic has made us successful in all of our endeavors.

Thank you for sacrificing your time to make sure we are taken care of. Farmers, ranchers, and laborers don’t often go on vacation. Sometimes they miss the Friday night football game because it’s harvest season. And it’s OK, because your main focus always was taking care of our family.

Your work is truly appreciated, and though we may not say it often enough, we are deeply grateful. You are the true stewards of the earth, and for that, we honor you.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Kings River Land Trust
